Currently, Soddy-Daisy High School offers a Rifle Team, Drill Team, and Raider/Ranger Team.

Rifle Team



The Rifle Team is a very small team of ten cadets skilled in sharpshooting. Air rifles are used exclusively. The team, headed by Master Sergeant Manis, practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 5:00 P.M. in preparation for competitions against other JROTC Rifle Team units. There are about ten competitions per school year. To make it onto the Rifle Team, you must maintain a letter grade 'C' average and outperform the other applicants in target shooting.

Drill Team



The Drill Team is a team that averages about thirty cadets, but currently has no limit on membership. The team performs drill movements and marches. They practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 5:00 P.M. to prepare for competitions against other JROTC Drill Team units. At these competitions, the teams are critiqued at their expertise in drill movements. There are about five competitions per school year. The Drill Team is headed by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Ward. The Drill Team currently has no prejudice against applicants, although all cadets must maintain a 'C' average in academics.

Colorguard Team



The Colorguard Team is a team that averages about twenty cadets, but currently has no limit on membership. The team performs colorguard exhibitions at competitions. They are also requested by the school and other organizations to perform colorguards for events. They practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 5:00 P.M. with the Drill Team. At the competitions, the Colorguard is critiqued at their expertise in colorguard routines. There are about five competitions per school year. The Colorguard Team is currently headed by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Ward. The Colorguard Team currently has no prejudice against applicants, although all cadets must maintain a 'C' average in academics.

Raider Team



The Raider Team is a team with a large amount of cadets, with currently no membership limit, that specializes in physical activity. They practice on Mondays from 2:30 to 5:00 P.M. and on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4:30 P.M. in preparations for their competitions against other JROTC Raider/Ranger Team units. The Raider Team undergoes rigorous training exercises to stay in top physical condition. There are about five competitions per school year. The Raider Team is headed by Master Sergeant Edward Barnes. The Raider Team currently has no prejudice against applicants, although all cadets must maintain a 'C' average in academics.
